20 Questions Book Tag

Let’s get to know each other! I found this tag through The Picky Bookworm ( @PickyBookworm ) and thought I’d give it a go.

HOW MANY BOOKS ARE TOO MANY FOR A SERIES?

I prefer TV over movies, so I love a good series. It lets me get to know the characters better. I’m currently reading a series with 13 books, so I’m not sure if that’s too long or not. But in general, I’d say around 10.

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT CLIFFHANGERS?

At the end of a chapter? I love them as long as the writer didn't use them as a crutch to end all chapters. For books, they are great as well, which is why I wait for several books out in a series before starting. I can’t wait!

HARDCOVER OR PAPERBACK?

Paperback only because it’s easier to carry with me.

FAVOURITE BOOK?

Too many! Pride and Prejudice typically tops the list. First Blood (not like the Rambo movie, but it is the book it’s based on), is a recent book that has joined the list. For sci-fi, which is my genre, I’d say I, Robot (again, not like the movie).

LEAST FAVOURITE BOOK?

Memories of Rain, by Sunetra Gupta. It may be an excellent book, but I couldn’t get through the ‘train of thought’ writing in which it is told.

LOVE TRIANGLES, YES OR NO?

A hard no.

THE MOST RECENT BOOK YOU COULDN’T FINISH?

A Drowned Kingdom.

A BOOK YOU’RE CURRENTLY READING?

One of many books I’m currently reading is ‘All the Whys of Delilah’s Demise’ as it is one of the Quarterfinalists in this years #SPSFC.

LAST BOOK YOU RECOMMENDED TO SOMEONE?

Ternary. I recommend this book with everything I have! It’s sci-fi, romance, (romance isn’t my real genre) but I could not put this book down. Excellent story and excellent writer.

OLDEST BOOK YOU’VE EVER READ BY PUBLICATION DATE?

I was an English major at University, so I’ve read a lot of old books, but I think, Dantes Inferno, form the Divine Comedy, written in the 14th century, is the oldest.

NEWEST BOOK YOU’VE READ BY PUBLICATION DATE?

Ternary.

FAVOURITE AUTHOR?

Jane Austen, Isaac Asimov, Gareth L. Powell, JN Chaney, Elizabeth Moon, Timothy S. Johnston.

BUYING BOOKS OR BORROWING BOOKS?

I prefer to buy to help support the author, but I’ll borrow if I can’t find the book.

A BOOK YOU DISLIKE THAT EVERYONE SEEMS TO LOVE?

A Drowned Kingdom.

BOOKMARKS OR DOG EARS?

I prefer bookmarks, but I’m not above dog ears.

A BOOK YOU CAN ALWAYS RE-READ?

Pride and Prejudice.

CAN YOU READ WHILE LISTENING TO MUSIC?

I used to always listen to music when writing, but I can’t now. And unless it’s classical music, I can’t read at all with music playing.

ONE POV OR MULTIPLE?

Either is good as long as there aren’t too many voices.

DO YOU READ A BOOK IN ONE SITTING OR OVER MULTIPLE DAYS?

If I can, I prefer in one sitting, but life is too hectic and it’s usually over multiple days or even weeks.
